The British boxer Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday night. The athlete was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his team members.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The boxer had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, his promoter confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.

Remembering the Victims

The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two trusted companions.”

The news of his discharge arrives after the boxing community had expressed its support for the star in the following the devastating accident.
