Celebrity Traitors Finale Mistakenly Uploaded A Full Day Early Outside the UK
Note: This piece does not contain spoilers concerning the final episode
The concluding episode of the celebrity version of the popular reality show was uploaded in error by overseas broadcasters prior to its planned UK airing on Thursday, according to a network statement.
Reports indicate that the final was viewed by a few hundred viewers of the online platform Crave in the North American country; these individuals were able to watch it for a short period before it was taken down.
This installment being released was not a error by the original broadcaster, and a spokesperson for the corporation urged those who believe they know the result of the series to "avoid sharing any reveals".
"We kindly ask anyone who believes they have uncovered the ending of The Celebrity Traitors to hold whatever they believe they know to themselves," the announcement read.
"We ask you to refrain from sharing any spoilers so that the millions of fans who have been faithfully following every development of the series can experience the final this night."
The Celebrity Traitors is currently the top-rated TV show of the current year, with an average of 12.6m viewers across the first four episodes.
Viewers of the series have been eagerly anticipating to see whether traitors Cat Burns and Alan Carr will win the £100,000 for a good cause or whether loyal contestants Joe Marler, Nick Mohammed and David Olosuga will be victorious.
A past champion of the third series of The Traitors commented that "no one likes spoilers", which are "joy's enemy".
The winner mentioned they will be sitting down to watch the finale this evening as it airs, with all of his family and "some snacks".
Thursday's final episode is extended to 70 minutes on BBC One, with an extended edition of the companion show scheduled to broadcast on BBC Two after the finale.
Host Ed Gamble will be accompanied by the cast and Claudia Winkleman as they respond to the series conclusion.
