The forty-third yearly Golden Joystick Awards unfolded on Thursday, and with a remarkable display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 emerged as the most decorated winner. The breakout role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive earned the coveted Top Game award, along with prizes for Outstanding Narrative and Excellence in Visuals.
Complementing the developer's triumph, the gifted performers also garnered personal awards. Jennifer English won Top Lead Actor for her portrayal as Maelle, while Ben Starr won Best Supporting Performer for his acting as Verso. Moreover, Sandfall Interactive itself was honored as Top Studio. In total, Clair Obscur and its makers won 7 awards throughout the show.
Other standout winners featured Ghost of Yōtei, which received Best Audio Design and Top Console Title, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, honored with Outstanding Independent Game and PC Game of the Year. Worth mentioning, the majority of Golden Joystick Awards are voted on by the public, with only four special—Critics’ Choice, Breakthrough Award, Lifetime Achievement, and Streamer Selection—determined by experts.
