The Scottish side kicked off their European campaign in ideal fashion with a crucial four-try away victory against Sale Sharks.

With the elements at their backs, the hosts began strongly and raced to a fourteen-point advantage within the first quarter. Tries from Ernst van Rhyn and youngster Ollie Davies put them in command.

However, the visitors responded admirably with two tries prior to half-time. Forward Gregor Hiddleston and flanker Darge both crossed to reduce the deficit.

Further second-half scores from Kyle Steyn and Stafford McDowall pushed Glasgow's advantage to 26-14. A late try for the hosts set up a tense finale, but the visitors held firm to secure a significant opening win.

Glasgow Seize Initiative After Half-Time

Play began with a quick try as Sale captain Van Rhyn drove over from close range after just two minutes. A first-half knock to centre Ma'asi-White brought 19-year-old Ollie Davies into the action for his cup debut.

The youngster made an instant contribution. Moving to fly-half, he ran a good angle to take an pass and score, extending the home side's advantage.

Against difficult weather, the Warriors turned to their forward power to get back into the contest. A strong driving maul was touched down by front-rower Gregor Hiddleston. Prior to the break, Darge barged over, with Adam Hastings' conversion making it a narrow game at half-time.

The Scottish club took the advantage for the first occasion soon after the second half. A misjudged kick was gathered by number eight Jack Dempsey, who fed skipper Steyn to burst through a challenge and race away to the try-line.

Now in the ascendancy, they clinched the bonus point when Stafford McDowall powered past a defender to score his 100th appearance for the club. That score completed a sequence of 26 unanswered points.

The hosts gave themselves a lifeline when Marius Louw used good footwork to cross. The kick made it a five-point game with time left.

One last chance arose for Sale from a line-out in the 22, but they failed to secure the ball, sealing the Warriors' triumph.
