Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's natural for concerns to be raised about his position following another convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in twelve matches, marking the club's poorest run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got significant backing from above,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to turn it around and get a victory of course but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I accept my position. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Club Management

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the team officials, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal discussions I feel the trust. However I've not talked to them since this game so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Failings and Player Reaction

The manager highlighted known failings from his squad in their European defeat, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his view of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” Jones said.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a spell such as this with results so bad.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And until that badge is removed, we will always battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to the top, show everyone once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
