Over a fortnight following the shocking loss of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues continue to honor the couple.
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, explained he finally felt prepared to post publicly about his profound loss.
"Sufficient time has passed that I can at last express my sorrow into words," shared Elwes, adding that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began spending more time together I understood this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor uploaded archival material from the movie, remarking that he could not remember "any day without joy".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Values that Rob held dear. Which is among the many reasons he was the perfect person to direct it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I remember you." He ended with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
In a different piece, legendary director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with his co-stars, and he comprehended the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.
Recently, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to bar the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate put a restriction on the investigation to restrict the public release of "any investigative information, notes, reports or photos" connected to the ongoing investigation.
The coroner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a official listing listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Following the tragedy, public figures shared divergent comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, offering controversial statements that were met with immediate backlash by numerous individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his criticism to the critics recently. Conversing on his program, Rogan characterized the comments as "disturbing" and suggested they showed a concerning absence of compassion.
Rogan ended by remarking that an adviser ought to have stepped in when the impulse to comment on the passing was made.
